Thought For The Way
'Jesus returned to Galilee with the power of the Spirit. News about him spread everywhere.' Luke 4. 14
I was asked to give a short motorcycling talk at a 'Joymount men's breakfast' recently in a hotel in Carrickfergus about 'Thought For The Way,' CMA, motorcycling in general I'm involved in and also 'Marshalling' at the TT and Manx. Some copies of Road Racing Ireland were also taken as men were given the oppoutunity to read an issue with a 'thought' in it.
It was something a bit different for me as like many motorcyclists' we men are not good at sharing problems in life or personal thoughts with others and it was good to have an hour together to speak about 'bikes' life and things eternal. I was surprized when more tables were brought in and the presentation went down well, as far as I could tell. I suppose as I've ridden bikes for over thirty years now: they recon'd I must know what I'm talking about. The 'free' breakfast was good and I could get used to it! Perhaps the WAG's will invite me along next!
Its also encouraging that in the weeks that followed a few men also apologised for not being there due to other responsibilities. It made me think that whilst many in the 'church' today focus mainly on youth work, without the kid's work, the ladies work and the men's work, etc, large groups of people would be missed out. There also is need for the whole to meet together regularily and the 'motorcyciing' work mustn't be forgotten either.
I was glad that I could use in the presentation a picture of Valintino Rossi that a photographer had given me to use some months ago, as on the Yamaha paint scheme was the word 'Go !!!!' This reminded me that the Gospel has 'Go' in it and of; (The FACT;) 'God so loved the world (The ACT) that he gave his only begotten Son, (The PACT) that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' (John 3.16) Finally whether you are male or female the one message is for ALL.
Ride safe,
Samuel T Irwin
